Caitlin Tiffany Glass (born November 16, 1981) is an American voice actress, dubbing director, andscript writer who provides voices for English versions of Japaneseanime series and video games.[1]

Biography

[edit]

Caitlin Tiffany Glass was born on November 16, 1981, inWashington, D.C., the daughter of Helen Glass and the sister of Caitlyn Elizabeth.[4][5] Glass grew up in the San Diego area and attended middle school and high school inEscondido, California.[6] Glass graduatedmagna cum laude from theUniversity of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts in 2004.[1]

While still a college student, Glass went on aFunimation studio tour and was hired the same day by voice directorEric Vale.[7] Her first roles were bit parts inCase Closed[7] until she landed the role ofHiyono Yuizaki inSpiral.[8] Glass then went on to voiceTriela inGunslinger Girl.

One of Glass's most notable roles isWinry Rockbell in the English-language adaptation of theFullmetal Alchemist anime. Glass was cast as Winry, even though she never thought to audition for the role. Glass tried out for Al,Rose, Lust, and Riza Hawkeye; it was her audition for the character of Rose and her previous "hyper" Hiyono voice in theSpiral series that booked her the role, after reading only a single line of Winry's dialogue.[9] Glass reprised her role in the second anime series,Brotherhood.

Glass's other notable roles includeNefertari Vivi in the Funimation dub ofOne Piece,Kaori Misaka inKanon,Yakumo Tsukamoto inSchool Rumble,Eila Ilmatar Juutilainen inStrike Witches,Saya Minatsuki inBlack Cat,Hinata Hino inFuture Diary,Accela Warrick inSolty Rei,Eleonora Viltaria inLord Marksman and Vanadis,Satellizer L. Bridget inFreezing andMina Ashido inMy Hero Academia. She can also be heard inNegima!,Kodocha,The Galaxy Railways,Sakura Taisen: Ecole de Paris, andLupin III OVAs. In addition to her voice work atFunimation, she has also done work forNew Generation Pictures andBang Zoom! Entertainment in California.

In 2006, Glass began her first major ADR directing project,Suzuka[8] and is one of a select few directors working onOne Piece. In 2008, she directed the English version ofOuran High School Host Club and played the lead role ofHaruhi Fujioka in the show. Along with directing, Glass has sung on theme songs for Funimation dubs.[1]

Personal life

[edit]

Glass is married to Tony Patterson. She lives in Dallas.[10] Outside of voice acting, she has worked as anESL teacher inSpain.[3][1]

It's a recognizable voice from her, not in any strange range or pitch, but most important is the tone and feel of the voice, which brings us Maki's aloofness covering up her shyness very well. She sounds reluctant but really does want to have friends, even with all the inconveniences that come with them.
