CWA Heavyweight Championship (New England)

For theContinental Wrestling Association, seeCWA Heavyweight Championship.

TheCWA Heavyweight Championship is the primaryprofessional wrestling singles title in theCentury Wrestling Alliance. The title was first won byTommy Dreamer who defeated"Mr. USA" Tony Atlas in a tournament final held inWallingford, Connecticut on November 5, 1992, and defended throughoutNew England by formerWorld Championship Wrestling andWorld Wrestling Federation wrestlers as well as some of the topindependent wrestlers in theNortheastern United States. The title was combined with theCWA New England title to create theNWA New England Heavyweight Championship when the CWA joined theNational Wrestling Alliance and became NWA New England in January 1998.[1][2][3] The title returned to its original name when the CWA withdrew from the NWA on March 10, 2007.[4][5]
