CP-809101 is a drug which acts as apotent and highlyselectiveserotonin5-HT2C receptorfull agonist.[1] It had promising results in animal models of obesity and psychosis, but associated withgenotoxicity which means that future use will be restricted toscientific research applications only.[2][3]

The drug has more than three orders of magnitude lower potency as an agonist of the serotonin5-HT2A receptor compared to the serotonin 5-HT2C receptor as well as lowerefficacy at the receptor in comparison (EmaxTooltip maximal efficacy = 93% and 67%, respectively).[2] It did not produce thehead-twitch response in rodents, and was able to antagonize the head-twitch response induce by thepsychedelic drug(–)-DOI.[2]
