CNN Indonesia is a24-hourIndonesianfree-to-airtelevision news channel, owned byTrans Media in collaboration withWarner Bros. Discovery under aCNN license.[1] Broadcasting from Trans Media studios inSouth Jakarta, the local franchise presents national and international content, focusing on generalnews, business, sports, andtechnology.
The TV programs are aired 24 hours a day viadigital terrestrial TV networks, pay-TV providersTransvision andIndiHome nationwide, andlive streaming services for overseas viewers.

In 2007,Trans Media planned to develop a news-orientedweb TV network calledDetik TV, which was named after the online news portaldetik.com (which was acquired by Trans Media in 2011). It would broadcast entertainment and news programs, with some of the news content taken fromTrans TV'sReportase andTrans7'sRedaksi news programs.[2] Some time later, Detik TV was planned to become adigital free-to-air terrestrial news TV network.[3] In 2009, businessmanChairul Tanjung announced a strategic partnership betweenTrans Media and then-owner of theCNN brand,Turner Broadcasting System ofTime Warner, to launch a CNN-branded channel in Indonesia.[4] Plans for the Detik TV network were then abandoned in favor of the new CNN Indonesia franchise.[5]
CNN Indonesia began as an online portal,CNNIndonesia.com, on 20 October 2014. It made its soft launch as a news channel on the 70th anniversary of the country'sProclamation of Independence (17 August 2015); the official launch day was held in conjunction withTrans Media's 14th anniversary (15 December 2015). Yusuf Arifin was its first editor-in-chief.
