CKGR-FM is a Canadianradio station that broadcasts on 106.3MHz inGolden,British Columbia.

Owned and operated byVista Radio, the station airs anadult hits format under the on-air brandBounce 106.3.

CKGR also has an AM rebroadcaster at 870 kHz inInvermere with the call signCKIR.

History

In 1973, Hall-Gray Broadcasting Co. Ltd. (Bob Hall and Walter Gray) received a licence to operate a new AM station at Golden. CKGR signed on the air in 1974 at 1400 kHz as a rebroadcaster ofCKCR-FM. In 1984, CKGR receivedCanadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) approval to broadcast some local content of its own in addition to the content provided from CKCR and add a rebroadcaster of its own atInvermere, operating at 870 kHz with the call sign CKIR.[1][2][3]

Over the years, the station went through different ownerships. In October 2007, the assets of Standard Radio, including CKGR, were purchased by Astral Media, and then in 2013 toBell Media. The station was sold toVista Radio in 2024, as part of Bell Media cuts.[4]

On October 15, 2010, CKGR received approval by theCRTC to convert to the FM band at 106.3 MHz with an averageeffective radiated power of 890watts to broadcast asoft adult contemporary format targeting adults aged 18 to 54.[5][6]

As part of a mass format reorganization by Bell Media, on May 18, 2021, CKGR flipped toadult hits, and adopted theBounce branding.[7]

On February 8, 2024, Bell announced a restructuring that included the sale of 45 of its 103 radio stations to seven buyers, subject to approval by the CRTC, including CKGR, which is to be sold toVista Radio. The application was approved on February 13, 2025.[8][9]
