Christian Pollas (b. 1947) is a Frenchastronomer, known for the discovery and observation ofminor planets andsupernovae.[2]
Pollas is credited by theMinor Planet Center with the discovery of 26asteroids,[1] some co-discovered withEric W. Elst, including thenear-Earth asteroids:(65679) 1989 UQ (belonging to theAten group of asteroids),4179 Toutatis (belonging to theApollo group of asteroids) and9950 ESA (belonging to theAmor group of asteroids).[3][4][5]
The main-belt asteroid4892 Chrispollas is named in his honor.[2]
