Căpeni Coal Mine is anopen-pit mining exploitation, one of the largest inRomania located inBaraolt,Covasna County with estimated coal reserves of 8.4 million tonnes.[1] The legal entity managing the Căpeni mine is thePloieşti National Coal Company which was set up in 1957.[1]
