Buszkowo[buʂˈkɔvɔ] is a village in the administrative district ofGmina Koronowo, withinBydgoszcz County,Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-centralPoland.[1] It is located in the historic region ofKuyavia.
During theGerman occupation (World War II), the forest near Buszkowo was the site of a large massacre ofPoles from Koronowo and nearby villages, committed by the Germans on October 5–6, 1939 as part of theIntelligenzaktion.[2] In 1941, the occupiers carried outexpulsions of Poles, whose farms were then handed over toGerman colonists as part of theLebensraum policy.[3] Expelled Poles were placed in a transit camp inToruń, and then deported either to theWarsaw District of theGeneral Government in German-occupied central Poland or toforced labour in Germany.[3]
