Burton Swifts Football Club was afootball club based inBurton upon Trent, England. Established in 1871, the club joinedthe Football League in 1892, remaining members until merging withBurton Wanderers to formBurton United in 1901.
The club was in1871. In1890 they were founder members ofthe Combination. However, after one season they switched to theFootball Alliance. When the Alliance merged withthe Football League in1892, the club were founder members of the newSecond Division of the League.[1]
The club was not very successful, and never finished higher than sixth in their division. After finishing bottom of the Second Division in1900–01 the club merged with neighboursBurton Wanderers to formBurton United. The new club took Swifts' place in the League and played at theirPeel Croft ground.
