Burchmullo (Uzbek:Burchmullo,Russian:Бурчмулла,romanized: Burchmulla, formerlyBrichmulla) is anurban-type settlement in the northeast ofTashkent Region,Uzbekistan. It is part ofBoʻstonliq District.[1] Its population is 4,100 (2016).[2] It lies by theKoksu River near its inflow into theCharvak Reservoir by the southwestern extremity of theKoksu Ridge, westTian Shan. It is about 120 km NEE fromTashkent.[3]
ANeanderthalarchaeological site exists near Burchmullo. In mediaeval times, Burchmullo was an important town, fortress and mining location. Polymetallic and otherdeposits are known in the area, includingarsenic,bismuth,lead andsilver. In the 18-19th centuriesgold was extracted by washing throughwoolcarpets[3]
Burchmullo is also known inRussian culture due to the songBrich-Mulla byTatyana and Sergey Nikitin.
