Buloburde, also spelledBuloburti orBulobarde, is a city inSomalia's centralHiran region.
Buloburde is situated along theShabelle River. It is the center of theBuloburde District.[citation needed]
In March 2014,Somali Armed Forces, assisted byAMISOM troops, captured the town fromAl-Shabaab.[1] The offensive was part of an intensified military operation by the allied forces to remove the insurgent group from the remaining areas in southern Somalia under its control.[2]
Buloburde has a population of around 20,500.[3][better source needed] The broader Buloburde District has a population of 210,120.[4]
