Bulldogs, 1879 Bulldogs are atype ofdog that were traditionally used for theblood sports ofbaiting anddog fighting , but today are kept for other purposes, includingcompanion dogs ,guard dogs andcatch dogs .[ 1] [ 2] [ 3] brachycephalic -type muzzles.[ 2] England that refers to the sport ofbull-baiting , which was anational sport in England between the 13th and 18th century.[ 4] Elizabethan era from the largermastiffs , as smaller, more compact dogs were better suited for baiting.[ 1] [ 2] [ 3]
