Chemical compound

Bufotenidine, also known as5-hydroxy-N,N,N-trimethyltryptammonium (5-HTQ) or ascinobufagine,, is an indoletoxin related tobufotenin, serotonin, and othertryptamines which is found in thevenom of a variety oftoads.[1][2] It acts as aselectiveserotonin5-HT3 receptoragonist, and has been used inscientific research to study the function of the serotonin 5-HT3 receptor, though this use has been limited by the fact that, as aquaternary amine, it is unable to readily cross theblood-brain-barrier and hence isperipherally selective.[3]
