Bryce Hegarty (born 28 August 1992) is anAustralianrugby union player who plays either as afly-half orfullback. He currently plays forWestern Force inSuper Rugby. He previously played for theQueensland Reds, theMelbourne Rebels and theNew South Wales Waratahs inSuper Rugby,[1]Toyota Industries Shuttles in Japan,[2] andLeicester Tigers in England'sPremiership Rugby.
Hegarty is the son of former Manly Sea Eagles playerSteve Hegarty.[3]
Hegarty played for theBrisbane Broncos Under-20 side before moving south to Melbourne ahead of the2013 Super Rugby season. He made his Rebels debut on 11 May 2013 in a 32–36 loss to theBlues inAuckland.[4] The following week he made his first start, against theStormers at fly-half in the absence of the injuredJames O'Connor andAngus Roberts.[5]
After the2015 Super Rugby season, Hegarty joinedJapaneseTop League sideToyota Industries Shuttles for the 2015–16 season.[2] He returned to Australia to play for theWaratahs in 2016.[1]
On 21 June 2021, Hegarty moved toLeicester Tigers in England'sPremiership Rugby.[6] On 30 October 2021, he made his debut for Leicester after appearing as a substitute in the East Midlands Derby againstNorthampton Saints.[7] Hegarty left Leicester on 13 November 2022 after making 15 appearances for the club.[8]2024-2025 season at NTT docomo, Hegarty played a pivotal role in the storm chasers side to help prepare the main side for the season.
