Broadway Books is an imprint of theCrown Publishing Group, a division ofRandom House, Inc.. It released its first list in Fall 1996. Broadway was founded in 1995 as a unit of Bantam Doubleday Dell, a unit ofBertelsmann.[1] Bertelsmann acquiredRandom House in 1998 and merged Broadway into a combined group withDoubleday the next year.[2] Random House reorganized again in 2008, with Doubleday moving toKnopf and Broadway moving to its current home atCrown.[3] Broadway's general-interest publishing was combined with Crown in 2010.[4] Broadway became the paperback publisher for the Crown imprint in 2010.[5]
