Bro (sometimes calledBro and Duss) is a populated area, asocken (not to be confused withparish), on the Swedish island ofGotland.[3] It comprises the same area as theadministrative Bro District, established on 1 January 2016.[4]

Geography

Bro is the name of the socken as well as the district. It is also the name of the small village surrounding themedievalBro Church,[5] sometimes referred to asBro kyrkby. It is situated in the northwest part of Gotland, northeast ofVisby.[6]

As of 2019[update], Bro Church belongs to Väskindeparish in Norra Gotlandspastorat, along with the churches inVäskinde,Fole,Lokrume,Hejnum andBäl.[7][8]

One of theasteroids in theasteroid belt,10128 Bro, isnamed after this place.[9]
