Brittany Anne Snow (born March 9, 1986)[1][2] is an American actress. She gained recognition for her role in theCBS soap operaGuiding Light (1998–2001), for which she won aYoung Artist Award for Best Young Actress and was nominated for two other Young Artist Awards and aSoap Opera Digest Award. She then starred in theNBC drama seriesAmerican Dreams (2002–2005), for which she was nominated for a Young Artist Award and threeTeen Choice Awards.

Snow has appeared in various films, includingThe Pacifier (2005),John Tucker Must Die (2006),Hairspray (2007),Prom Night (2008),Would You Rather (2012), thePitch Perfect film series (2012–2017),Bushwick (2017),Someone Great (2019), andX (2022). She appeared in the NBC legal comedy-drama seriesHarry's Law (2011–2012) and theFox drama seriesAlmost Family (2019–2020). Snow made her directorial debut with the drama filmParachute, which premiered at theSXSW festival in March 2023. She stars in theNetflix drama seriesThe Hunting Wives (2025-present).

Snow is the co-founder of theLove Is Louder movement, a project by the non-profitJed Foundation, dedicated to stop bullying in schools.[3]

Life and career

Brittany Anne Snow was born on March 9, 1986, and raised in Tampa, Florida, to a mother ofEnglish,Swiss andItalian descent and a father ofScottish,Lebanese andGerman descent.[4] She is the daughter of Cinda and John Snow.[5] She has a brother and a sister.[6] She attendedGaither High School in Tampa.[7]

Snow began modeling at the age of three in a print ad forBurdines department stores.[8] She was onCBS' soap operaGuiding Light for three years as troubled teen Susan "Daisy" Lemay.[9] She played Meg Pryor onNBC's drama seriesAmerican Dreams[10] andneo-Nazi high school studentAriel Alderman on the third season ofFX'sNip/Tuck.[11]

She sang backup vocals on theAmerican Dreams soundtrack for the song "My Boyfriend's Back." She appeared in the family comedy filmThe Pacifier (2005) alongsideLauren Graham andVin Diesel.[12] Snow appeared in the teen romantic comedy filmJohn Tucker Must Die (2006) oppositeJesse Metcalfe.[13] The film was a commercial success and made $68 million worldwide. In 2006, she voicedNaminé in the video gameKingdom Hearts II and Shizuku Tsukishima in theStudio Ghibli filmWhisper of the Heart.

She also portrayed a young woman afflicted withbipolar disorder in the season seven finale ofLaw & Order: Special Victims Unit. Snow appeared in the music video for "The Phrase That Pays" byThe Academy Is..., which was released in July 2006.[14]Snow appeared inHairspray (2007), a film adaptation of theBroadway musical, playing Amber Von Tussle, the daughter ofMichelle Pfeiffer's character.[15] She had already worked withHairspray directorAdam Shankman on theDisney filmThe Pacifier. With her role inHairspray, her musical side is shown in several numbers including a solo entitled "The New Girl In Town", a song previously cut from the Broadway musical version. She played the lead role of Donna Keppel in the slasher filmProm Night (2008), which was released on April 11, 2008, and grossed $57.2 million at the box office.[16] Snow appeared as youngLily Rhodes inGossip Girl, in the episode "Valley Girls". On January 17, 2011, Snow began appearing as a series regular in the first season of thelegal dramaHarry's Law, and returned as a recurring character in season two.[17] She starred alongsideEvan Ross in the thriller film96 Minutes (2011).[18]

In 2012, Snow starred in the musical comedy filmPitch Perfect, asa cappella singer Chloe. She reprised her role inPitch Perfect 2 (2015),[19] which received generally positive reviews from critics and grossed over $287 million worldwide. It surpassed the total gross of the original film ($115.4 million) in five days, and also became the highest-grossing music comedy film of all time, overtakingSchool of Rock ($131.3 million). She again reprised her role a final time inPitch Perfect 3 (2017), which received mixed reviews from critics and grossed $185 million worldwide.[20]

In November 2012, she was cast in the sitcomBen and Kate as Lila, a love interest for Tommy.[21] Snow portrayed Michelle in the comedy filmThe Late Bloomer (2016) and had the lead role of Lucy in theactionthriller filmBushwick (2017).

Someone Great (2019) co-starsDeWanda Wise,Gina Rodriguez, and Brittany Snow play the Real Or Fake cocktail game onMTV.

Snow portrayed Blair Helms inNetflix'sromantic comedy filmSomeone Great (2019).[22] Snow announced her engagement to realtor and pro surfer Tyler Stanaland on February 19, 2019.[23] They married in Malibu on March 14, 2020.[24] Snow announced their separation through social media on September 14, 2022,[25] and the two finalized their divorce in July 2023.[26] She starred in filmmakerTi West's horror filmX (2022) as Bobby-Lynne Parker.

Snow made her directorial debut withParachute, which premiered at theSXSW festival in March 2023.[27] She starred in the short filmRed, White and Blue (2023) as Rachel, a single mother working as a waitress, urgently searching for anabortion.[28] Because she lives in Arkansas, where abortion iseffectively illegal, she travels with her preteen daughter Maddy to anabortion clinic in Illinois. It was nominated forBest Live Action Short Film at the96th Academy Awards.[29] This role marked the first time Snow portrayed a mother, saying: "I think what I related to is that I'm not a mom yet, or necessarily, but I do think a lot of women have to face really hard challenges and yet be very strong and stoic and silent in a way."[29]

Snow currently stars alongsideMalin Akerman in the drama seriesThe Hunting Wives as Sophie, a woman who moves from Boston to East Texas and begins a sordid affair with Margo (played by Akerman), the wife of her husband's new boss, while getting entangled in the murder of a teenage girl.[30]

Snow is the co-creator of theLove is Louder movement, a project by the not-for-profitJed Foundation. Thousands of individuals, campuses, and communities have used Love is Louder's programs, events and clubs to address issues such as bullying, body image, discrimination, and depression.[31] Snow was recognized by theSubstance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration in 2015 with a Special Recognition Voice Award for her efforts to bring attention to mental health issues.[32] Together with good friend Jaspre Guest, Snow founded the nonprofitSeptember Letters for mental health awareness, encouraging people to share their personal stories in meaningful anonymous communication.[33][34] On May 23, 2023, the two launched their collections bookSeptember Letters.[35]
