Athletes from theWest Indies Federation competed under the nameAntilles (ANT),[1] renamed toBritish West Indies (BWI) by the IOC, at the1960 Summer Olympics inRome,Italy. Thirteen competitors—two from Barbados, four from Trinidad, and seven from Jamaica—all men, took part in thirteen events in five sports.[2] The short-lived nation only participated at these single Games, asJamaica andTrinidad and Tobago competed independently again in1964, andBarbados started competing at the1968 Games as the federation did not compete at the1960 Winter Olympics inSquaw Valley. The team won two bronze medals, both in track and field athletics.
