Briesen (German pronunciation:[ˈbʁiːzn̩]ⓘ;Lower Sorbian:Brjazyna,pronounced[ˈbrʲazɨna]) is amunicipality in the district ofSpree-Neiße, inLower Lusatia,Brandenburg,Germany.
From 1815 to 1947, Briesen was part of thePrussianProvince of Brandenburg.
AfterWorld War II, Briesen was incorporated into the State ofBrandenburg from 1947 to 1952 and theBezirk Cottbus ofEast Germany from 1952 to 1990. Since 1990, Briesen has been part of Brandenburg.
