Brendan Eugene Sexton III (born February 21, 1980) is an Americanactor.[1]

Life and career

Born inStaten Island, New York, Sexton made his film debut inTodd Solondz'sWelcome to the Dollhouse playing the troubled bully Brandon McCarthy, for which he was nominated for anIndependent Spirit Award.[2] He was the lead inHurricane Streets[3][4] andDesert Blue and also appeared inBoys Don't Cry,Black Hawk Down, andJust Like the Son, as well as the cult filmsEmpire Records andPecker.

He also starred inThe Marconi Bros. alongsideDan Fogler and inJonathan Blitstein'sLet Them Chirp Awhile alongsideJustin Rice.

Sexton owns and operates a New York City-basedindependent record label Big Bit of Beauty.

2002 radio interview and alleged blacklisting by Hollywood

In a 2002 radio interview, Sexton said that the version of the filmBlack Hawk Down, in which he briefly appeared, which made it onto theater screens was significantly different from the one recounted in the original script. According to him, many scenes asking hard questions of the U.S. troops with regard to the violent realities of war, the true purpose of their mission in Somalia, etc., were cut out.[5]
