Brazos Valley (/ˈbræzəs/ ⓘBRAZ-əs) is a region of theU.S. state ofTexas comprising the following 7 counties inCentral Texas:Brazos,Burleson, andRobertson (which collectively comprise theBryan–College Station metropolitan area), and the neighboring counties ofGrimes,Leon,Madison, andWashington.[1]
The area is centered on Brazos County, the cities ofCollege Station andBryan, andTexas A&M University. TheBrazos River lies at the center of the region; however, not all areas of the region are a part of the Brazosdrainage basin.
TheBrazos Valley Council of Governments represents the collective interests of the local governments in the region.[2]
TheBrazos Valley Museum of Natural History maintains collections in the fields ofarchaeology,botany,conchology,cultural history,geology,mammalogy,ornithology, andpaleontology in the region.
