Brando Badoer (born 15 September 2006) is anItalian racing driver currently competing in theFormula Regional Middle East Championship withPHM Racing and is set to drive in the2025 FIA Formula 3 Championship forPrema Racing. Most recently, he competed forVan Amersfoort Racing in the2024 Formula Regional European Championship in which he finished fifth. He previously competed inItalian F4 in2022 and2023.[1]

He is the son of formerFormula One driverLuca Badoer.

In September 2022, Badoer was chosen in a scouting camp conducted by theFerrari Driver Academy.[2]

Formula 4

Badoer made his single-seater debut in the2022 Formula 4 UAE Championship with AKM Motorsport.[3] He failed to score any points and placed 28th in the standings.

For his main campaign, Badoer would race in theItalian F4 Championship withVan Amersfoort Racing.[4] He had a difficult first half of the season, failing to score points but broke through with a fifth place inSpielberg, and score a few more points that season to end 16th in the standings.[5] The Italian also competed as a guest driver inADAC Formula 4 in two rounds.[6]

Badoer raced in the2023 Formula 4 UAE Championship withPinnacleVAR during pre-season.[7] He took his maiden single-seater podium with third at theDubai Autodrome.[8] Despite not being present in two of five rounds of the championship, Badoer was sixth in the overall standings.

Badoer remained with Van Amersfoort Racing inItalian F4.[9] His season would be much more improved that the year before, starting out with a second place inImola.[10] He scored four more podiums throughout the season with consistent points finishes, including a pole position inMonza.[11] This placed him sixth in the championship standings.[12]

Formula Regional

During pre-season, Badoer would compete in the2024 Formula Regional Middle East Championship withPHM AIX Racing.[13] He achieved three podiums, putting him tenth in the standings.

Badoer would move up to theFormula Regional European Championship, continuing withVan Amersfoort Racing.[14] Badoer had a strong start to his campaign with fourth and fifth place in theHockenheim opener,[15] and soon took his first podium with second place inZandvoort.[16] This was a start of five consecutive second places, which included a maiden pole position inMugello.[17][18] In the remaining four rounds, Badoer collected only one more podium inAustria, and failed to score in the last three races.[19] Despite placing as the highest winless driver in the standings, Badoer managed to finish fifth in the championship with six podiums and 174 points.

2025

In preparation for his2025 Formula 3 campaign, Badoer returned to theFormula Regional Middle East Championship withPHM Racing.[20]

FIA Formula 3

In October 2024, Badoer was announced to be competing forPrema Racing in the2025 FIA Formula 3 Championship alongsideNoel León andUgo Ugochukwu.[21]

Formula One

In October 2023, Badoer was made an optioned driver of theMcLaren Driver Development Programme for the duration of one year.[22][23][24] This option was later exercised in October 2024 seeing him join the McLaren Driver Development Programme.[25]
