The Braiakaulung are anIndigenous Australian people, one of the five tribes of theGunai/Kurnai nation, in thestate of Victoria, Australia. They were recognized byNorman Tindale as an independent tribal grouping.[1]
The Braiakaulung are also known as the Brayakaboong, meaning "men of the west".[2]
The Braiakaulung's lands extended over 6,700 square kilometres (2,600 sq mi), taking inProvidence Ponds, theAvon andLatrobe rivers. They extended west ofLake Wellington as far asMount Baw Baw andMount Howitt.[2]
