Boryaceae is afamily of highlydrought-tolerantflowering plants native toAustralia, placed in theorderAsparagales of themonocots.[2] The family includes twogenera, with twelvespecies in total[3] inAustralia.
Until recently, this family was not recognized by manytaxonomists; most systems put the two genera,Borya andAlania, in theAnthericaceae or theLiliaceae. The 2016APG IV system (unchanged from the 1998, 2003 and 2009 versions) does recognize this family and places it in the orderAsparagales, in the clademonocots, based onmolecular phylogenetic evidence that shows the two genera form aclade.[4]
