Bonds is a village inLancashire, England. It lies immediately south ofGarstang town centre, on the opposite bank of theRiver Wyre. It is bounded by theLancaster Canal to the south and west. Garstang, Bonds,Bowgreave andCatterall form an almost continuous built-up area, which was bypassed by theA6 road in 1928.[1] (Some sources state, incorrectly, that this occurred in 1926.[2]). While it is often regarded as ade facto suburb of Garstang, Bonds forms part of a differentcivil parish:Barnacre-with-Bonds.
The Roman Catholicchurch of St Mary and St Michael is aGothic Revival building consecrated in 1858, superseding a chapel built in 1784.[3][4])
1⁄2 mile (800 m) east of the village is the ruin ofGreenhalgh Castle, built in 1490 forThomas Stanley.[5]
