Bolhrad Raion (Ukrainian:Болградський район;Bulgarian:Болградски район;Romanian:Raionul Bolgrad) is araion (district) inOdesa Oblast of Ukraine. It is part of the historical region ofBessarabia. Its administrative center is the town ofBolhrad. Population:144,377 (2022 estimate).[1]
On 18 July 2020, as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, the number of raions of Odesa Oblast was reduced to seven and the area of Bolhrad Raion was significantly expanded. Two abolished raions,Artsyz andTarutyne Raions, were merged into Bolhrad Raion.[2][3] The January 2020 estimate of the raion population was66,666 (2020 est.).[4]
