Robert "Bob"Hall (born October 16, 1944)[1] is an Americancomics artist and writer as well as a playwright and theatre director. He is the co-creator of theWest Coast Avengers forMarvel Comics and has worked on such series asArmed and Dangerous andShadowman, which he both drew and wrote forValiant Comics.
Hall studied theatre at theUniversity of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he earned a bachelor's and master's degree.[2] Moving to New York City in the early 1970s, he took courses atJohn Buscema's school of comic art andThe New School.[3]
Hall began working in the comics industry in 1974 and drewhorror stories forCharlton Comics.[4] He soon moved toMarvel Comics and drewTheChampions[5] andSuper-Villain Team-Up.[6] Hall and writerChris Claremont collaborated onMarvel Team-Up #74 (October 1978) which featuredSpider-Man meetingthe cast ofNBC'sSaturday Night Live[7][8] Hall briefly worked as an editor for Marvel from 1978 to 1979[9] underJim Shooter. Hall later joined Shooter as a writer and penciler atValiant Comics.
Hall was co-founder of the New Rude Mechanicals, a New York City-basedoff-off-Broadway theatre company.[10]
In the late 1970s, he co-wrote the script and co-created the set designs for the stage playThe Passion of Dracula,[11] which ran for two yearsoff-Broadway in New York City, as well as in London.[10]The Passion of Dracula also screened onShowtime.[10]
Hall is the artistic director of the Flatwater Shakespeare Company ofLincoln, Nebraska, an organization he founded.[10] Previously, he was artistic director of the Nebraska Repertory Theatre[10] for six years, and in 2008 was artistic director of Lincoln's Haymarket Theatre.[10]
Hall resides inLincoln, Nebraska.[10] He has previously lived in England and Ireland.[3]
The web-slinger found himself sharing the stage with a cast who had dressed as super-heroes to attack the [Silver] Samurai's gang in this quirky tale written by Chris Claremont and penciled by Bob Hall.
