Robert Downs (born 27 July 1955) is a formerEnglish professional cyclist fromBasildon, Essex.

Cycling career

He won the Sealink International in 1980 and competed at the1980 Moscow Olympics in theMen's 100 kilometres Team Time Trial.[1]

He representedEngland in the road race, at the1978 Commonwealth Games inEdmonton, Alberta, Canada.[2] Four years later he representedEngland and won agold medal in the team time trial, at the1982 Commonwealth Games inBrisbane, Queensland, Australia.[3][4]

He rode forManchester Wheelers' Club and was a professional between 1984 and 1989 ending his career with Percy Bilton.
