Blue Box is aBBC Books original novel written byKate Orman and based on the long-running Britishscience fiction television seriesDoctor Who. It features theSixth Doctor andPeri, written from a first-person perspective by a fictional journalist, in a similar manner toWho Killed Kennedy byDavid Bishop. The character Ian Mond is named after a well-known fan who is a member of various internet forums including Jade Pagoda and theOutpost Gallifrey forums.

The title of this novel does not refer to theTARDIS, but to theblue box used byphreakers, and by analogy, the alienhacking tool that is the book'sMacGuffin.
