Blockbuster first appeared inThe Uncanny X-Men #210 (Oct. 1986), and was created byChris Claremont andMichael Golden.
The character subsequently appears inX-Factor #10 (Nov. 1986),Thor #373-374 (Nov.–Dec. 1986),Uncanny X-Men #240 (Jan. 1989), #243 (April 1989),X-Man #13 (March 1996),X-Men #200-203 (Aug.–Nov. 2007), andX-Men: Messiah Complex #1 (Dec. 2007).
Blockbuster appeared as part of the "Marauders" entry in theOfficial Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition #18.
Blockbuster is a member of theMarauders, a group of superhuman killers assembled by themutant thiefGambit.Mister Sinister, Gambit's superior, orders the Marauders tomassacre the mutantMorlocks. While carrying out this massacre, Blockbuster and the Marauders fight various superheroes, including theX-Men.[1]
Thor is summoned to the Morlock tunnels by the frog Puddleglup and encounters Blockbuster, who has tortured the mutantArchangel. After a brief battle, in which Blockbuster is able to break Thor's left arm, Thor kills him to avenge the Morlocks that Blockbuster has killed. Thor burns his remains, as well as those of the dead Morlocks.[2]
Sinister clones the Marauders using his technology. Blockbuster and the other killed Marauders then return as part of the demonic invasion of Manhattan known as theInferno. Sinister sends Blockbuster and the other Marauders to defend his orphanage which doubles as a laboratory headquarters. Most of the X-Men are tainted because of the demonic invasion to become more bestial and aggressive, and the mutantHavok kills Blockbuster.[3]
Although the X-Men are able to discover and deactivate many of the Clone Vaults used by Sinister after the events of "X-Cutioner's Song", Blockbuster still returns with the other Marauders, and attacks theX-Mansion.[4]
Blockbuster is shown to have been killed under unspecified circumstances and consumed byPredator X when the Marauders come to a town in Alaska.[5] During theKrakoan Age, Blockbuster is resurrected bythe Five and imprisoned byMadelyne Pryor.[6]
Blockbuster has an immense physical size, which grants him tremendous strength, stamina, and resistance to injury. He is shown to be powerful enough to withstand direct blows from Thor.[7]
Blockbuster appears inDeadpool, voiced byFred Tatasciore.[10][9]
Blockbuster is a member of the mutant mercenary group known as the Marauders. Each of the Marauders has had their natural talents enhanced by the evil geneticist Mister Sinister, who also cloned the team to act as his enforcers whenever needed. Blockbuster possesses immense strength and - as seen in Walt Simonson and Sal Buscema's Thor #374 - was able to trade blows with the God of Thunder, though he was ultimately defeated thanks to Thor's use of Mjolnir.
Sunfire, Domino, Feral, Rictor, Warpath, Random, Arclight, Blockbuster, Stryfe, Typhoid Mary, Senyaka, Forearm, Reaper, Strobe, Ape, Mole, Slither, Copycat, and Tusk all appear in crowd scenes or cameo appearances in different points of the series.
Vertigo, Arclight and Blockbuster are all set to join their boss Mr. Sinister in the upcoming game.
