Blake Clark is an American stand-up comedian and actor. He is best known as Chet Hunter onBoy Meets World, Harry Turner onHome Improvement, as well as his frequent collaborations withAdam Sandler.[1] Clark has voicedSlinky Dog in theToy Story franchise starting with 2008'sToy Story: The Musical, having inherited the role from his friendJim Varney, who died oflung cancer in 2000.[1]
Blake Clark was born and raised inMacon, Georgia.[1] He is a veteran of theVietnam War,[1] having served as afirst lieutenant in theUnited States Army with the5th Infantry Division.[2][3] During his time in the army, he was also a member of the101st Airborne Division known as the "Screaming Eagles."
Following his military service he had a number of jobs including working as a football coach and a history high school teacher.[4]
In 1980, Clark moved toLos Angeles to break into show business and comedy.[4]
In 1984, Clark co-starred in theGeorge CarlinHBO TV showApt. 2C of which only the pilot episode was ever made.[5]
Clark performing for troops at Base Theater during Holiday Handshake Tour in Iraq on December 14, 2004Clark has been cast in numerousAdam Sandler films includingThe Waterboy,Little Nicky,Mr. Deeds,Eight Crazy Nights,50 First Dates,I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry,Bedtime Stories,Grown Ups, andThat's My Boy.[1] He has also made guest appearances in numerous television series, includingHome Improvement,Boy Meets World,The Jamie Foxx Show,The Drew Carey Show,Girl Meets World, andCommunity. He was also Fred the chauffeur inRemington Steele. Starting withToy Story 3, Clark has voicedSlinky Dog in theToy Story franchise, in place of his close friendJim Varney, Slinky's original voice actor in thefirsttwo films, who died oflung cancer on February 10, 2000.[6] WhenToy Story 3 was still in production after Varney had died,Pixar searched for someone who sounded like Varney and found Clark, who "very much captures the essence and spirit of Slinky Dog's character."[7][8]
Clark has two sons, one of whom, Travis Clark, is also a comedian.[9]
