Blagoje Vidinić (Macedonian:Благоја Видиниќ,Serbian:Благоје Видинић; 11 June 1934[1] – 29 December 2006) was a professionalfootballcoach, player, andOlympic participant.[2]
Born in present-dayNorth Macedonia to aSerb family, he representedYugoslavia internationally. He also managed the national football teams ofMorocco,Zaire, andColombia.
Born inSkopje, he played his club football forFK Vardar,Radnički Beograd andOFK Beograd in Yugoslavia, and then withFC Sion ofSwitzerland.[3] In 1967, he moved to the US to join theLos Angeles Toros of theNational Professional Soccer League, making 20 appearances that season.[4] He started the 1968 season with the relocated successor teamSan Diego Toros in the newly formedNASL, before moving toSt. Louis Stars.[4]
He played forYugoslavia as agoalkeeper in the1956 and1960 Olympics, winningsilver in the former andgold in the latter.[1][5] He also played in the1960 UEFA European Football Championship when Yugoslavia finished second. He earned 8 caps and his final international was an October 1960friendly match againstHungary.[6]
After retiring from playing, he became a coach, and managed two African teams in theFIFA World Cup:Morocco in1970 andZaire in1974.[7]
