The Special Forces "Black Winter" Group is aspetsnaz unit of theMain Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine formed in 2022 as a response to theRussian invasion of Ukraine.
It was established in 2022 following theRussian invasion of Ukraine and took part in theBattle of Bucha,Battle of Hostomel and theBattle of Irpin in the early stages of war as part of theNorthern Ukraine campaign.[2] Most operations of the group are kept secret.[2] On 20 November 2024, recruits of the group took the oath of allegiance to Ukraine.[3] On 2 January 2025, one hundredFPV drones were handed over to the group[4] byArtem Pyvovarov.[5][6]
