Birwoodton is a locality situated in theSunraysia region, in north westernVictoria,Australia. The place by road, is situated about 4 kilometres south ofMerbein and 14 kilometres northwest ofMildura.
Named afterWilliam Birdwood, 1st Baron Birdwood, leader of theANZAC forces at theBattle of Gallipoli, it was established as an agriculturalsoldier settler scheme soon afterWorld War I. The Post Office opened on 19 July 1920 (closed in 1978).[4]
The locality is predominantly devoted togrape production.
