Birbhum Institute of Engineering and Technology orBIET is a West Bengal Govt aided engineering college inWest Bengal, India. It offers different undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Engineering.[1] It was established in 1999 by an NGO named ICARE under the guidance of educationist Padmashri LateRamaranjan Mukherji, Ex-President of India and then Finance Minister ShriPranab Mukherjee and Lok Sabha Speaker ShriSomnath Chatterjee.[2]

The college is affiliated witMaulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology[3] and all the relevant programmes are approved by theAll India Council for Technical Education and National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for Mechanical Engineering department.[4] The college receives grant from the World Bank under Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-II), Government of West Bengal, WBMPLAD scheme, Birbhum Zilla Parishad and WBSEDCL.[citation needed]

The campus is located atSuri, Birbhum.[5]
