Bianca Nicole Crawford (née Blair ; born April 9, 1989) is an Americanprofessional wrestler andfitness and figure competitor . As of April 2016,[update] she is signed toWWE , where she performs on theSmackDown brand under thering name Bianca Belair . Belair is one of two women to win at aWrestleMania main event and her 420-day reign asRaw Women's Champion [ a] stands as the longest in the championship's history.
Crawford made her professional wrestling debut in 2016 for WWE'sdevelopmental brand NXT , competing for theNXT Women's Championship on multiple occasions. After being drafted to SmackDown, she won the2021 Women's Royal Rumble match , becoming the second African American afterThe Rock to win a Royal Rumble match. She successfully challenged for theSmackDown Women's Championship againstSasha Banks in the main event ofWrestleMania 37 – Night 1 , which marked the second time women main-evented WrestleMania, as well as the first time two African-Americans main-evented WWE's flagship event.[ 5] In 2021, she was ranked No. 1 of the top 150 female wrestlers byPro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI ).[ 6]
In 2023, she became the longest-reigning Raw Women's Champion with her reign of 420 days. This would also be the longest reign of any WWE women's championship since 2006, with WWE promoting her as the longest-reigning women's champion of the modern era. This reign also broke a couple of other records within WWE, including the longest-reigning African-American world champion (male or female) and the longest-reigning African-American for any singles championship. After winning theWWE Women's Tag Team Championship withJade Cargill in May 2024, she became the ninthWWE Women's Triple Crown Champion .
Early life Bianca Nicole Blair was born on April 9, 1989, inKnoxville, Tennessee . Blair attendedAustin-East Magnet High School in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she succeeded in many sports such as track.[ 7] She was atrack and field athlete who competed in the hurdles and had whatESPN writer Sean Hurd called "a volatile six-year track career" that saw her attend three universities.[ 8] She first attended theUniversity of South Carolina and thenTexas A&M University , and later did not compete for a year, before going back home to Knoxville to complete her college career at theUniversity of Tennessee , where she became All-SEC and All-American as well as being named to the SEC's academic honor roll in 2011 and 2012.[ 9] [ 10] [ 8] Blair was also aCrossFit competitor andpowerlifter , having appeared inRX magazine,Femme Rouge magazine, and CrossFit.com. Blair was forced to abandon her CrossFit career due to intercostal chondritis, also known as shifting rib syndrome, which she attributed to overtraining.[ 8] [ 10] [ 11]

Blair entered her information into theWWE prospects database shortly after the premature end of her CrossFit career.[ 8] Less than two weeks later, while working phone sales at a flavoring company inAtlanta ,[ 11] she received a messageMark Henry ,[ 12] saying he could get her a tryout.[ 8]
After two official tryouts,[ 7] [ 8] Blair signed a contract with WWE on April 12, 2016, and was assigned to theWWE Performance Center .[ 3] Blair made her first appearance during an in–ring segment at anNXT live event on June 25 as Binky Blair, where she proclaimed to be the "EST of NXT... prettiest, baddest, strongest".[ 13] She made her in–ring debut on September 29, losing toAliyah .[ 14] On the May 3, 2017, episode ofNXT , Blair made her television debut under the ring name Bianca Belair, taking part in abattle royal to determine the number one contender for theNXT Women's Championship , but was eliminated byBillie Kay and Peyton Royce .[ 15] Belair then participated in the2017 Mae Young Classic , defeatingSage Beckett in the first round,[ 16] but was eliminated in the second round by the eventual tournament winnerKairi Sane .[ 17]

In January 2019, AtTakeOver: Phoenix , Belair unsuccessfully challenged Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women's Championship afterinterference fromJessamyn Duke andMarina Shafir , ending her undefeated streak at 367 days.[ 25] AtTakeOver: New York , Belair failed to win the title as she was submitted by Baszler in afatal four-way match also involving Kairi Sane andIo Shirai .[ 26] AtWarGames , Belair and Team Baszler (NXT Women's Champion Shayna Baszler, Io Shirai, andNXT UK Women's Champion Kay Lee Ray ) lost to Team Ripley (Rhea Ripley, Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, andTegan Nox ) in the first ever women'sWarGames match .[ 27] The following night, she participated atSurvivor Series , where the threebrands (Raw ,SmackDown , andNXT ) faced each other in several matches; she was part of Team NXT, who defeated Team Raw and Team SmackDown in a 5-on-5-on-5 women'sSurvivor Series match .[ 28]
In January 2020, atRoyal Rumble , Belair entered her first women'sRoyal Rumble match at No. 2, eliminating a record 8 other superstars (tied with Baszler), before she was eliminated by eventual winnerCharlotte Flair .[ 29] AtTakeOver: Portland , Belair faced Ripley for the NXT Women's Championship in a losing effort.[ 30] On the February 26 episode ofNXT , she competed in her final match in NXT, losing to Flair.[ 31]
SmackDown Women's Champion (2020–2021)Belair in 2018 AtWrestleMania 36 , Belair made her main roster debut as aface by savingThe Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) fromZelina Vega ,Angel Garza , andAustin Theory , establishing herself as a member of theRaw roster.[ 32] As part of the2020 WWE Draft , Belair was drafted to theSmackDown brand .[ 33] On the October 30 episode ofSmackDown, she defeatedBillie Kay andNatalya in a triple threat match to qualify for Team SmackDown atSurvivor Series .[ 34] At the event, she was eliminated bycountout and her team lost the match to Team Raw.[ 35]
In January 2021, atRoyal Rumble , Belair won theRoyal Rumble match by last eliminatingRhea Ripley , becoming the second-ever Black wrestler to achieve this feat in WWE history afterThe Rock . She was in the match for over 56 minutes, a record at the time for a participant in the Women's Royal Rumble match, having entered at No. 3.[ 36] AtElimination Chamber , she andSmackDown Women's Champion Sasha Banks failed to win theWWE Women's Tag Team Championship fromShayna Baszler andNia Jax .[ 37] On the following episode ofSmackDown , Belair officially challenged Banks to a title match atWrestleMania 37 .[ 38] They also failed to win the tag team titles atFastlane .[ 39] At the first night of WrestleMania, Belair defeated Banks in the main event to win the SmackDown Women's Championship.[ 40] She then retained the title againstBayley atWrestleMania Backlash ,[ 41] and atHell in a Cell , inside thenamesake structure .[ 42] Belair was scheduled to defend the title against Bayley in a"I Quit" match atMoney in the Bank ,[ 43] but the match was cancelled due to Bayley suffering atorn ACL while training at the WWE Performance Center.[ 44]
AtSummerSlam , Belair was scheduled to defend her title against Sasha Banks,[ 45] but during the event, it was announced that Banks could not compete.[ 46] She was seemingly replaced byCarmella , who was attacked by a returningBecky Lynch , who challenged Belair for the title. Belair accepted and lost the title in asquash match , ending her reign at 133 days.[ 47] She described the loss as one of the lowest points of her career, "losing the title in 26 seconds in front of all of your fans".[ 48] AtExtreme Rules , Belair defeated Lynch bydisqualification due to interference by a returning Sasha Banks, thus not earning the title.[ 49] As part of the2021 WWE Draft , Belair was drafted to the Raw brand.[ 50] AtCrown Jewel , Belair failed to regain the title in a triple threat match against Lynch and Banks.[ 51] AtSurvivor Series , Belair made history by becoming the first person to overcome a four-on-one handicap to win the event's traditionalSurvivor Series match .[ 52]
Raw Women's Champion (2022–2023)In 2022, atElimination Chamber , Belair won theElimination Chamber match to become the No. 1 contender for the Raw Women's Championship atWrestleMania 38 , thus continuing her feud with Lynch.[ 53] The rivalry between the two heightened and on the March 28 episode ofRaw , Lynch appeared and attempted to cut Belair's hair with a pair of scissors in revenge for being scarred from a ponytail whip from Belair, however, she attacked Lynch with a Kiss of Death and chopped off her hair instead.[ 54] At night one of WrestleMania 38, Belair defeated Lynch to win the Raw Women's Championship.[ 55] Belair then retained the title againstAsuka and Lynch in a triple threat match atHell in a Cell ,[ 56] and against Carmella atMoney in the Bank .[ 57] AtSummerSlam , Belair retained the title against Lynch, and after the match, they would embrace each other, ending their feud. However, they were confronted by the returningBayley and her new alliesDakota Kai andIyo Sky .[ 58] On the August 8 episode ofRaw , they challenged Belair,Alexa Bliss , and Asuka to a six-woman tag team match atClash at the Castle , which they accepted.[ 59] [ 60] At the event, they lost toDamage CTRL when Bayley pinned her.[ 61] AtExtreme Rules , Belair retained the Raw Women's Championship against Bayley in aladder match .[ 62] On October 19, Belair reached 200 days as champion, making her the longest-reigning Black world champion in WWE history.[ 63] AtCrown Jewel , Belair retained the title against Bayley in aLast Woman Standing match .[ 64] AtSurvivor Series: WarGames , Belair, Asuka, Bliss, Lynch, andMia Yim defeated Damage CTRL (Bayley, Kai, Sky),Nikki Cross , andRhea Ripley in aWarGames match .[ 65]
Belair in 2024 On the January 2, 2023 episode ofRaw , Belair retained the title against Bliss by disqualification after Bliss attacked Belair and the referee.[ 66] A rematch between the two was later scheduled for theRoyal Rumble ,[ 67] where Belair retained the title against Bliss.[ 68] At Night 2 ofWrestleMania 39 , Belair retained the title againstAsuka .[ 69] As part of the2023 WWE Draft , Belair was drafted to the SmackDown brand along with the Raw Women's Championship.[ 70] AtBacklash , Belair retained the title against Iyo Sky.[ 71] This win made Belair the longest-reigning Raw Women's Champion, surpassing Becky Lynch's reign of 398 days, subsequently being the longest reign of any WWE women's championship sinceTrish Stratus ' reign with theoriginal WWE Women's Championship in 2006, with WWE promoting Belair as the longest-reigning women's champion of the modern era.[ 72] AtNight of Champions , Belair lost the championship to Asuka, ending her first reign at a record-setting 420 days.[ 73]
AtSummerSlam , Belair regained the title by defeating Asuka andCharlotte Flair in a triple threat match to win her secondWWE Women's Championship .[ a] However, she lost the title to Iyo Sky after Sky cashed-in her Money in the Bank contract, ending Belair's second reign in 1 minute and 35 seconds. This marks the title's shortest reign in history.[ 74] After a two-month hiatus, Belair challenged Sky for the title atCrown Jewel [ 75] but was unsuccessful due to interference by a returningKairi Sane .[ 76] AtSurvivor Series WarGames , Belair, Flair, Lynch andShotzi defeated Damage CTRL (Bayley, Sky, Sane, and Asuka) in aWarGames match .[ 77]
Triple Crown Champion (2024–present)In January 2024 atRoyal Rumble , Belair entered the Royal Rumble match at number 10, eliminatingTNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace in the process, before being eliminated by the winner, Bayley.[ 78] She then took part in the women'sElimination Chamber match at thetitular event , but was eliminated byLiv Morgan .[ 79] AtWrestleMania XL , the team of Belair,Jade Cargill , andNaomi defeatedDamage CTRL .[ 80]
In May 2024 atBacklash , Belair and Cargill defeated Damage CTRL'sThe Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Sane) to win theWWE Women's Tag Team Championship .[ 81] With this win, Belair became the ninthWWE Women's Triple Crown Champion .[ 82] Belair then participated in the2024 Queen of the Ring tournament , defeatingCandice LeRae in the first round,[ 83] andTiffany Stratton in the quarterfinals.[ 84] but lost toNia Jax in the semifinals.[ 85] AtKing and Queen of the Ring , Belair and Cargill defended their titles againstCandice LeRae andIndi Hartwell .[ 86] AtClash at the Castle , Cargill and Belair lost the titles toThe Unholy Union (Alba Fyre andIsla Dawn ) in atriple threat match ,[ 87] but regained the titles atBash in Berlin .[ 88] They then retained atCrown Jewel .[ 89] AtSurvivor Series WarGames , Belair was a member of teamRhea Ripley which defeated teamLiv Morgan in aWarGames match .[ 90] After Cargill suffered an injury (kayfabe ), Naomi volunteered to be Belair's new tag team partner. On the February 24 episode ofRaw , Belair and Naomi lost the titles toThe Judgment Day (Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez ) after interference from"Dirty" Dominik Mysterio , ending their reign at 73 days and Belair's individual reign at 177 days.[ 91] Five days later atElimination Chamber , Belair won thenamesake match by last eliminating Morgan, becoming the first woman to win the Elimination Chamber match more than once and earning aWomen's World Championship match atWrestleMania 41 .[ 92] At Night 2 of WrestleMania, Belair facedIyo Sky for the Women's World Championship in atriple threat match also involving Rhea Ripley, which she lost after being pinned by Sky, thus ending her undefeated WrestleMania streak.[ 93] Dave Meltzer of theWrestling Observer Newsletter rated the matchfive stars , making it the first women's match in WWE history to achieve such a rating.[ 94] On the April 25 episode ofSmackDown , Belair revealed after the match at WrestleMania 41 that she had suffered broken fingers on her left hand and would be taking time off to heal. She returned from injury atEvolution , as the guest referee of the match between Cargill and Naomi.[ 95]
Professional wrestling style and persona Belair wrestles in a powerhouse style and is noted for her strength.[ 96] She uses the nickname The EST of WWE (or NXT during her time there),[ 7] which she describes as being "the fastest, the strongest, the quickest, the roughest and the toughest" – emphasis on the "est".[ 8] She uses atorture rack into anargentine facebuster as herfinisher , which she calls theKiss of Death (often shortened as theK.O.D ).[ 97] Belair is known for her signature braided ponytail, which she often uses against her opponents as a weapon.[ 7] [ 11] [ 98] She has also been known for making her own ring gear with a sewing machine and also making pre-match repairs with a makeshift sewing kit.[ 96] [ 99]
Fitness and figure competition career On December 4, 2022, Blair revealed that she would make herfitness and figure competition debut for World Beauty Fitness & Fashion (WBFF) at theAtlantic City ProAm.[ 100] Two days later, Blair confirmed that she won the first place at Wellness, second place at Fitness, while also receiving a WBFF pro card.[ 101]
Other media In late January 2020, WWE.com revealed Belair's first action figure debuting inMattel 's Basic Series 107.[ 102] On August 25, 2022, Blair signed with Hollywood agency WME.[ 103]

Personal life Belair and her husbandMontez Ford in 2018 Blair's father was in a band called the Blair Brothers and her brother played football.[ 11] Her grandfather Edward G. High was a professor and chairman of biochemistry atMeharry Medical College , her great-grandfather Edward N. Toole was the first licensed African American electrician inDurham, North Carolina , and her aunt Miranda Hunt was one of the first African Americans to integrate St. Cecilia High School inNashville, Tennessee .[ 12]
On June 9, 2017, Blair announced that she was engaged to fellow professional wrestler Kenneth Crawford, better known asMontez Ford .[ 112] The couple married on June 23, 2018.[ 113] Blair has been open about her struggles with aneating disorder , crediting a past track coach at Texas A&M University with helping her to prioritize her mental health and move onto recovery from the disorder.[ 11]
