Bhim Singh Bhavesh is an Indian journalist from theBhojpur district of Bihar in easternIndia, whose work has focused on advocacy for theMusahar community.[1] He has been involved in several community-based initiatives to promote education, public health, and social equity.[2] In 2025, he received thePadma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honour, for his work in social service.[3]

Career

Bhavesh began his career as ajournalist, reporting on public issues inBihar. He later expanded into activism, particularly among the Musahar community inBhojpur. His activities have included education drives for children, vocational training for youth, and awareness campaigns on health and sanitation.[4][5]

News reports credit his initiatives with contributing to literacy rates among Musahar children and enhanced access to government welfare programs in remote villages. His work involved collaboration with local administrative bodies and civil society organizations.[6][7]

In January 2025, Prime MinisterNarendra Modi mentioned Bhavesh’s work on the radio programMann Ki Baat, describing him as an example of individual-led initiatives in marginalized communities.[8][9]

Bhavesh was also invited as a state dignitary to attend the 2025Republic Day parade inNew Delhi.[10][11]
