Benoît Millot (born 10 January 1982) is a Frenchfootball referee who officiates inLigue 1. He has been aFIFA referee since 2014, and is ranked as aUEFA second category referee.[1]

Refereeing career

Millot began officiating inLigue 2 in 2010, before being promoted toLigue 1 the following year. He officiated his first Ligue 1 match on 13 August 2011 betweenSochaux andCaen.[2] In 2014, he was put on theFIFA referees list. He officiated his first senior international match on 25 May 2014 betweenMali andGuinea.[3] His firstUEFA club competition match as referee was on 24 July 2014, a meeting between Slovenian clubKoper and Azerbaijani clubNeftçi in the2014–15 UEFA Europa League second qualifying round.[4]

In September 2018, Millot officiated a match in the2018–19 Swiss Super League betweenSt. Gallen andGrasshopper.[5] Millot was also selected to officiate the2019 Coupe de la Ligue Final betweenStrasbourg andGuingamp.[6]

Millot was selected as anadditional assistant referee for matches at the2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Poland,[7] including thefinal betweenGermany andSpain.[8] In 2019, Millot was selected as avideo assistant referee at the2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland.[9] Later that year, he served as a video assistant referee at the2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, including in thefinal betweenSenegal andAlgeria,[10] and the2019 FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar.[11] On 23 April 2021, he was selected byFIFA as a video assistant referee for thefootball tournaments at the2020 Summer Olympics in Japan.[12][13]
