Benin has sent athletes to everySummer Olympic Games held since 1980. Under its previous name ofDahomey, the country also competed in1972. Despite appearing in twelve different Olympics, Benin has never won anOlympic medal. No athletes from Benin have competed in anyWinter Olympic Games.

History

The country first participated at the1972 Summer Olympics inMunich under its nameDahomey. After changing its name to Benin in 1975, the country first competed under its name inMoscow in 1980 and has sent its own athletes to the Olympics ever since.
