Belgioioso orBelgiojoso (Italian:[beldʒoˈjoːzo,-oːso];Lombard:Belgios[belˈdʒuːs] orBelgiojos[ˌbɛldʒuˈjuːs]) is a town andcomune in theProvince of Pavia, region ofLombardy (northernItaly), with a population of 6,233 (2017).[3]

It is 12 km east of the city ofPavia, between theOlona River and thePo River. Due to its geographical location, Belgioioso has become one of the southern suburbs of the city ofMilan.

Belgioioso is noted for itsmedievalcastle, the seat of theBelgioioso family.Francis I of France was held there after theBattle of Pavia.
