Bedrabad is a village in theKaliachak IIICD block in theMalda Sadar subdivision ofMalda district in the state ofWest Bengal,India.
Bedrabad is located at24°49′04″N87°59′43″E / 24.817806°N 87.995333°E /24.817806; 87.995333.
The area shown in the adjoining map is the physiographic sub-region known as thediara. It "is a relatively well drained flat land formed by thefluvial deposition of neweralluvium." The most note-worthy feature is theFarakka Barrage across the Ganges.[1] The area is a part of theMalda Sadar subdivision, which is an overwhelminglyrural region, but the area shown in the map has pockets ofurbanization with 17 census towns, concentrated mostly in theKaliachak I CD block.[2][3] The bank of theGanges betweenBhutni andPanchanandapur (both the places are marked on the map), is the area worst hit byleft bank erosion, a major problem in the Malda area.[4] The ruins ofGauda, capital of several empires, is located in this area.[5]

According to the2011 Census of India, Bedrabad had a total population of 15,123, of which 7,706 (51%) were males and 7,417 (49%) were females. Population in the age range 0–6 years was 2,460. The total number of literate persons in Bedrabad was 6,473 (51.12% of the population over 6 years).[6]
Bedrabad High School is a Bengali-medium coeducational institution established in 1980. It has facilities for teaching from class V to class XII. It has 5 computers for teaching and learning purposes.[7]
Bedrabad Rural Hospital, with 30 beds, is the main government medical facility in Kaliachak III CD block.[8]
