Basmisanil (INNTooltip International Nonproprietary Name; developmental codesRG-1662 andRO5186582) is a highlyselective inverse agonist/negative allosteric modulator ofα₅ subunit-containingGABA_A receptors which is under development byRoche for the treatment ofcognitive impairment associated withDown syndrome.^[1]^[2]^[3] As of June 2016, it is no longer studied for this purpose.^[4] It underwent a clinical trial for cognitive impairment in patients with schizophrenia.^[5]
