Barron Lake is alake in southeasternLabrador nearSandwich Bay,Canada. It covers just under 20 km2 (7.7 sq mi) and is at an elevation of 117 m (384 ft).[2] The lake is located in the 13H12NTS zone.[1]
Barron River flows out of the lake and joins withNorth River about 20 km (12 mi) to the north. TheMealy Mountains surround the lake, which is also a part of theMealy Mountains National Park Reserve.[3]
The lake is surrounded by late-Labradoriangranitoidintrusions (dated 1660-1600 ma):megacrystic/porphyriticgranite togranodiorite; early-Labradoriangranitoid and associated rocks (dated 1678-1671 ma): foliated to gneissic granite andalkali feldspar granite, foliated to gneissicsyenite,alkali feldspar syenite and alkali feldspar granite, and compositionally equivalent well-bandedgneiss; and pre-Labradoriansupracrustal rocks (dated 1800-1770 ma):peliticschist and gneiss, quartz-feldsparpsammitic schist and gneiss, andmetasedimentarydiatexite.[4]
