Barnabás Tornyi (born 14 April 1953) is a Hungarian professionalfootball manager and formerplayer.[1]
Between 1996 and 1999, he managedDiósgyőri VTK.[2] In the 1996-97 Nemzeti Bajnokság II season, Diósgyőr finished in the second position and were promoted to the first division.[3] In the1997–98 Nemzeti Bajnokság I season, Diósgyőr finished in the 11th position and remained in the top division.[4]
On 20 July 1997, his team beatBudapest Honvéd FC 5–1 at theDiósgyőri Stadion.[5]
Between 2000 and 2001, he managedBudapest Honvéd FC.[6]
On 11 April 2001, he was sacked fromBudapest Honvéd FC.[7]
The court decided that Tornyi received 30 millionHungarian Forints from Honvéd.[8]
On 11 April 2002, he was appointed as the manager ofVasas SC.[9] He debuted againstSzombathelyi Haladás at theRohonci út.[10]
On 19 March 2007, he was appointed as the manager ofTatabányai SC.[11][12]
On 25 October 2007, he was appointed as the manager ofBFC Siófok.[13]
On 16 December 2009, he was appointed as the manager ofDiósgyőri VTK.[14][15] On 7 April 2010, he resigned from his position.[16][17] On 1 June 2010, he filed a case against Diósgyőr.[18][19]
In November 2019, he was caughtShopliftingOrange County, Florida in the United States.[20][21] It turned out that he spent two days in custody due to stealing underwear and socks.[22]
