Early life and education [ edit ] Laker grew up inKent, England .She immigrated to the United States when she was 12.She graduated from theMissouri School of Journalism with a BJ in 1979.[ 2]
In 1993, Laker joined the staff of the Philidelphia Daily News as a general assignment reporter.[ 3] She has also worked for theClearwater Sun , theAtlanta Journal-Constitution , theDallas Times-Herald , and theSeattle Post-Intelligencer .[ 4]
Laker's "Tainted Justice" series brought about an FBI / Philadelphia Police internal affairs investigation.[ 5]
