Barate (Ancient Greek:Βαράτη),Barata (Βάρατα), orBaratta (Βάραττα), was a town ofancient Lycaonia, on the road fromIconium toTyana, 50M.P. from the former. In someitineraria the name is also speltBarathra. It was inhabited duringRoman andByzantine times.[1]
Its site is tentatively located near Kızılkale,Karaman,Karaman Province,Turkey.[1][2]
Barata is atitular bishopric of theCatholic Church.[3]
