Bansberia Assembly constituency was anassembly constituency inHooghly district in theIndianstate ofWest Bengal.
As a consequence of the orders of the Delimitation Commission Bansh Baria (Vidhan Sabha constituency) ceased to exist from 2011 and a new constituencySaptagram Assembly constituency came into being.[1]

In2006[8] and 2001[7] state assembly elections Asutosh Mukhopadhyay ofCPI(M) won the 187 Bansberia assembly seat defeating his nearest rivals Suma Mukherjee and Tapan Dasgupta, both ofTrinamool Congress in respective years. Robin Mukherjee ofCongress defeated Prabir Sengupta of CPI(M) in 1996.[6] Prabir Sengupta of CPI(M) defeated Robin Mukherjee of Congress in 1991[5] and 1987,[4] Shibani Maitra of Congress in 1982[3] and Sanat Majumdar ofJanata Party in 1977.[2][9]
