Banggai people is an ethnic group inhabited almost whole part ofBanggai Islands Regency,Banggai Sea Regency, and parts ofBanggai Regency,Central Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Ancestors of the Banggai originating fromBanggai Sea region which historically part ofKingdom of Banggai and also fromBanggai Islands. The Banggai divided into two subgroups, theSeasea people who live in mountainous area and the Banggai people who live in the coastal area.
The Banggai have similarities in language, culture and tradition toSaluan people andBalantak people which inhabitedBanggai Regency. Almost all of the Banggai isMuslim. The Banggai's profession traditionallyfarmer,fisherman,government officials, and others.[2]
