Bam County (Persian:شهرستان بم) is inKerman province, Iran. Its capital is the city ofBam.[3]Arg e Bam (Bam Citadel) and its cultural landscape are located in Bam County.[citation needed]

History

After the 2006 National Census,Fahraj District andChahdegal Rural District were separated from the county in the establishment ofFahraj County;[4]Narmashir andRud Ab Districts were separated from the county to establishNarmashir County;[5] andRigan District was separated in establishingRigan County.[6] In addition,Kork and Nartich Rural District was separated from theCentral District, andRud Ab-e Gharbi Rural District fromRud Ab District, in the formation ofBaravat District.[5] After the 2011 census, the city ofBaravat joined the new district from the Central District.[7]

In 2018,Darijan Rural District was created in the Central District, andDehbakri Rural District was separated from it in the formation ofDehbakri District, including the newAbareq Rural District.[8]

Population

At the time of the 2006 census, the county's population was 277,835 in 67,639 households.[9] The following census in 2011 counted 195,603 people in 57,380 households.[10] The 2016 census measured the population of the county as 228,241 in 71,338 households.[2]
