Ballybrit (Irish:Baile an Bhriotaigh)[1] is anelectoral division andtownland in thecivil parish of St. Nicholas, on the outskirts ofGalway city in Ireland.[2][3] The townland of Ballybrit is 2.5 square kilometres (1 sq mi) in area,[2] and is home toBallybrit Racecourse and a business park.[4] Evidence of ancient settlement in the area includes a medievaltower house and an earlierringfort site.[5] The ringfort (orcashel) was used as a graveyard since at least the early 19th century.[6]
